L'ASTRONOME

In the Florence of the Medicis, in the early XVIIth century, François, a young Parisian astronomer, dreamy and indecisive, starts working for Galileo. He discovers a man of genius, struggling against obscurantism, against his own suffering, and who bears a secret wound in his heart: giving in to pressure from the people around him, he has left the woman he loved…

At that time, Fakhreddin II, the prince of Lebanon, goes into exile in Tuscany. François, who is present when the scientist and the emir meet, falls in love with a close relation of the latter, a young woman of great beauty, Najla. Their love is hopeless. But François persists: will he succeed where his Master has failed?

In the meantime, invisible plotters are getting ready to get hold of celatone, one of Galileo's most original inventions. In order to thwart their scheme, François decides to take action…

On the day following Galileo's famous trial, the young man gathers his memories to relate his fabulous experience to us.
